Hanna Eid Ordained As ElderOn October 15, 2007 a group of believers gathered in Toraan Baptist Church to witness the ordination of Hanna Eid as an elder serving the Eilaboun Baptist Church. The service was conducted at Toraan Baptist Church due to the fact that the church at Eilaboun is very small and could not hold a large number of people. Eilaboun is a village in Galilee with roughly 4400 residents, one of a very few towns in Israel where the majority of the population are Christian. The Eilaboun Baptist church is hosted in the basement of Abu William Shoufani, the very first Baptist believer in the town. This same occasion also served to make William Shufani and his wife Badera and Sister Abir Srour deacons.

Hanna Eid, a civil engineer and member of Eilaboun Baptist Church, and his wife Lina have long felt God’s call into ministry and he shared a touching testimony with the group about their journey together and how this day was a symbolic wedding day for both of them. He spoke about the role models in his life: Pastor Suhail Ramadan, Abu William Shufani and Pastor Khaled Dally. Hanna is currently attending the new Nazareth Center for Christian Studies and pursuing a Bachelor of Divinity to prepare him for a life spent in ministry.

The evening’s program was opened with prayer and worship by Pastor Khaled Dally, who currently pastors both Kufur Yaseef and Eilaboun Baptist Churches. Monther Nauom, the Chairman of the Association of Baptist Churches spoke about the wonderful ministry in Eilaboun, which began 20 years ago with Pastor Suhail Ramadan as an outreach ministry from Toraan Baptist. He shared verses for Hanna from Numbers 2:24-26: the LORD bless thee and keep thee, the LORD make his face shine upon thee and be gracious unto thee, the LORD lift up his countenance upon thee and give thee peace. The Word of God was then presented by Rev. Andrawous abu Ghazaleh, who ministered in Galilee for 7 years in the 1990s and presently leads a ministry training Christian leaders around the world. At the end of the program, the pastors laid their hands on Hanna and Lina and the three new deacons and blessed them in their new roles as Church leaders.
